genius

Roman amazes me. Today I watched him take a cup from the kitchen table...then bring it to the water cooler and try to fill it up!!

He is such a problem solver too. Very cool watching his little brain at work.

When Jack is figuring something out, he touches everything and fiddles. Roman will just look and look until he's figured it out.

They are both very clever.

Ah, breakfest in bed...

All days should begin with breakfast in bed. Really, it was so nice to roll over and see my huz standing with a plate full of food for me and a cup of tea!
After tea and a bit of reading, it was time to get out of bed...and the boys were so happy to see me!

Everyone was in a great mood today!!

Today zoomed by. We did a little re-organizing (again) and now the boys have a nice little area with their toys and a TV. Jack is so excited to have a VCR player, hahaha! He watched some "soo-kee doo" (scoobie doo) before dinner.

We also played freeze tag and took some time to blow bubbles which Roman thought was hilarious.

Oh yes, and I must mention...

Our home is now soother free!!!

Yesterday Jack decided to throw his soothers in the garbage! He had decided he wanted to wash them but Jacob told him they were too dirty and maybe it would be best just to throw them out.

I was so worried about traumatizing Jack when the time came to ditch the soother but wow- this was way easier than anticipated. Last night and tonight he asked for it and we just reminded him that it was gone and that's that!!!

Yay!

(Roman stopped using a soother around the time he learned to roll over and I was really glad!!)

The Sun!

I missed the sun!!!

It's so nice to have the curtains up, the WINDOWS OPEN and the sun shining inside. The boys and I just sat in the window this morning for a bit. Lovely lovely, sun!!

Yesterday I took the boys for a walk...Jack LOVES pushing Roman in his umbrella stroller. I hope we can do lots of stuff outside. Now if only the lawn would dry....our lawn is half snow and half deep mud. Jack loves to play in it but Roman is so cautious especially now that he is walking to really enjoy it.

Roman is so funny when he walks. You'd think he'd been doing it for months. He rarely falls, he catches his balance. He's only walking 5-10 steps right now but I think SOON he won't be crawling at all. He's so sturdy!

Whistle

Jack has been trying to whistle. It's too funny. He puts two fingers on his lips then screeches as high as he can.

Roman can totally walk. We saw him do it...but he won't do it if he thinks we are watching.

Jack wants me to make cookies! He asked a few times yesterday and it was the first thing he asked me this morning, so I guess we are baking later!

Jackism

A few days ago, we went to Peterborough. Jack wanted to go to the "train store" (Chapters) but we told him it was closed, so we couldn't go.

We had to go back to Peterborough a few days later, Jacob wanted to go to Future Shop and Jack told him "Future Chop is closed! You can't go!"

HAHAHA!!

So Jacob dropped Jack and I off at the "train store" while he took Roman to browse Future "Chop".

Jack put his toys away...

...including his brother!

Beautiful

This morning I was laying in Jack's bed nursing Roman and Jack came up, patted Roman on the head and said "Roman is a beautiful baby!"

...so what if later he said "I love the beautiful bathroom!" It's still sweet, okay!?

Roman has a double ear infection, a little wheeze and congestion and lots of patches of eczema. Poor little guy.

29 gallon rubbermaid bath time for the boys now!

Confession

Depression sucks. Every day is a struggle and it's not fair.

I am often jealous of the mama's who don't experience postpartum depression.

What a crap situation-

Here's your baby, NOW SUFFER EMOTIONALLY, muwahahaha!

Seriously, who invented PPD?

Ah

Jacob got up with the boys this morning. They woke up at 8:30! They have been getting up at 6:45...so lucky Jacob! Roman was up at 4:45 this morning, wiiide awake after a quick nurse. Thankfully he went back to sleep shortly after...or at least was quiet in his crib.

The boys and I played with animals this afternoon. I am still baffled at how different they are. I remember Jack's personality at 1 year old and the games he enjoyed and Roman just looks at me like I am a crazy person when I try them with him! Jack used to love sliding his animals down the "slide" and Roman prefers to open the door of the barn, put the animal in, close the door, open the door, take the animal out and do it all over again.

Roman will also sit on my lap and play happily, Jack escaped my lap as soon as he could figure it out around 8 months old.

Such different boys. Jacob and I are always saying "do they even LOOK like brothers?" Nope, they don't. Occasionally Roman will give me a glance that reminds me of Jack. Oh, they do sound similar sometimes. Roman has a very deep voice for a baby!!

I hope the boys are feeling better tomorrow! Jack's voice was very raspy today and he was sneezing a lot. Roman had a runny nose and still some congestion. Neither of them have a fever any more, yay!

Oh I have a knitting related injury :p I am not kidding, my right arm hurts from my wrist up to inside my armpit. So a knitting break is required. I thought I was knitting ergonomically but I guess I was wrong!

dance party

We often have dance parties before bed. A dance party is when Jacob and I take turns picking songs and then we all dance. Roman used to HATE dance parties, but now he likes them.

Jack is the best. Today he put on a hat and struck a pose. You'd think he couldn't top that but HE DID.

Jack then DID A HEAD STAND and tried to spin on his head.

Yeah. I have the coolest kid!!!

Oh that's the solution?

Jack wanted me to put his swing up...I told him I was too short to do it!
Jack has the solution to being short though...

"You just got to take off your clothes, Mommy!"

Ohhh, that's how to be taller? WHO KNEW?

Haha, I love his logic!

Roman is still pretty sick and I am feeling pretty under the weather as well. Jacob is out today, otherwise it would totally be nap time all day.

Jack is obsessed with Mickey Mouse Club House. He has watched the same episode 4 times in a row. I don't feel bad having on the TV for the boys since they play and run around while watching it. I often wish they would just SIT and watch TV. I also wish I had their energy!!!

I have to do diaper laundry and regular laundry today but I just don't feel like it :p

Lazy Day

The boys were still pretty sick today...you'd never really know it though. It takes a lot more than a chest cold to calm down Jack!

Roman had TWO naps today which is unheard of!

I went through most of the boys clothes today and got a huge bag ready to donate. I also went through their toys AGAIN and have yet another box ready to go!

I am slowly trying to get this place ready for a possible Day Care in here...I am not sure when my "goal" is to start looking for kids, but soonish.

Today Jack sneezed, he told me "I go get a napkin" and he grabbed a handful of napkins from the drawer and got boogies on ALL OF THEM! Hahaha....I counted, 11 napkins with boogers on them.

I started a new pair of longies today...the "tangerine" ones I made are pretty cute...the legs are too short though, oh well!

mmm, cadbury egg

The boys and I are home after a week at my dads house in Guelph. We had a really nice visit even though Jack was a handful the entire time and Roman was super mama's boy who cried whenever not in my arms! It was lovely to see a few friends and have a change of scenery.

Jack & Roman caught Wyatt & Wolfgang's cold...but hopefully the fever and congestion won't last too long.

Oh yes, Jack vomited in his car seat- I think we are going to have to think about gravol or something for him when on long car rides! Puking in the car seat is so gross.

The husband seems to have been bored during his week of bachelorhood...

Jacob hung a swing up in our living room and Jack has been swinging in it for hours since we got home, haha!

This week is going to be a crazy one...

The day after

Roman's birthday was really nice! My brother and his family, my mom and sister joined us at my dad's house for some chinese food and ice cream cake.

I think my brother was embarrassed when Jack started spinning in circles telling us he was a pretty princess, haha!

Just as my mom and I were getting Jack ready for a bath, Leslie & Wyatt came for a quick visit. Jack greeted them by standing on the stair case, wiggling his butt and yelling out "I'm NAKED!!!" What can I say, both of my boys like being nude and aren't ashamed of it.

I got to wear my nephew, Weston (almost 4 months old) in our new sling, awww. He's so little.

I am almost done knitting Roman a pair of longies...but as usual, I got bored of knitting. This always happens. I have the attention span of a gold fish, I swear.

Jack is going through a very...violent...stage right now. I don't know what to do with him. We spend a majority of the day in the corner. According to Jack, the answer to everything is to hit it.

Roman is sucking his big toe at the moment and Jack is "painting" with kitchen spatulas.

Happy to be going HOME tomorrow, I miss my huz!

Weston in my new UpMama sling! Cutie Pie!!!

Happy Birthday, Roman!!

I couldn't help it last night...every time I woke up, I'd glance at the clock and try to figure out what I was doing this time last year! For those that don't know, I was planning a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and after 21 hours of active labour, decided to have another cesarean birth. Still, Roman's birth-day was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. I think I need to think of that day more often and remember- OH YEAH, I AM a very, very strong and capable woman.

Yesterday was a long and challenging day. Jack was very testy all day long, by the time bed time came I was incredibly grateful. Lunch time, Jack stood on his chair yelling "NEVER NEVER NEVER" when I asked him to sit down and eat. The day pretty much continued like that.

I did give the boys an extra long bath. Jack loves bath time and I want to take advantage of the tub while we are at my dads since we don't have one at home. Roman crawled around laughing having the best time watching his brother in the bath. Roman is not a fan of the bath...but he did alright once I put him in it...as long as I didn't stop singing to him.

This morning we got mail! A lovely ring sling, a new wet bag, a diaper cover and some detergent. Definitely a nice start to the morning.

I am optimistic that today will be better than yesterday...

Kay & her Boys

For those of you who read my cookie blog...I decided to discard it. I quickly found it annoying to have to blog every time I baked something. I bake a lot now!

So here is something new. Kay & her Boys.

I am mama to two boys- Jack will be 3 in two months and Roman will be one TOMORROW. They are 22 months apart in age so that makes for a lot of fun and CHAOS.

Jack is my spirited boy. He is so full of energy, never stops. All emotions are on the extreme side. There is NEVER a dull moment with Jack.

Roman is a sweetie. He's my little buddy, always at my side. Thank goodness he is pretty relaxed because I have a hard enough time handling the older boy ;)

My husband is Jacob. I fell in love with him when I was 16 and he 20...nearly 7 years later, we still have that love, woohoo! He's the best husband I could ask for!

Then there is ME. You should know a few things: I am surviving Postpartum Depression for the second time around. The first time around was awful but short-lived (only 8 months)...the second time around has been incredibly different. Now that that's out of the way...I like to bake & knit & read. I am kind of an old lady.

When it comes to parenting- I don't do it by the books. I can't label myself. We are a cloth diapering, extended breastfeeding, baby wearing, vaccination delaying bunch.

So this blog will hopefully be about my days with my boys and whatever else happens in our lives.
